Handmade Wooden Music Boxes -- Folk Art with a Long Tradition
Simple wooden jingle boxes were made in Germany as early as 1800. In the classic version of the jingle box, a shaft inside the box was set in motion by a small crank. A spring mechanism and wire pluck produced a simple ping-pang melody.
Our hand-crafted music boxes retain every bit of the folk design and charm of the original models. They include a works that generates a tune more like what we are accustomed to today. Turn the wooden crank and the music starts. Stop turning and the music stops. Height approximately 3 3/4 in - 4 in. Charming lathe-turned, carved and handpainted figures. |
